Cebu Pacific (PSE: CEB), the Philippines’ leading airline, marked a significant milestone on Thursday with the launch of its direct Manila-Sapporo flights. This new route makes Cebu Pacific the only airline offering non-stop flights between the two cities, further strengthening its position as the largest carrier connecting the Philippines and Japan.
Sapporo becomes Cebu Pacific’s fifth destination in Japan, offering Filipinos more travel opportunities to explore the country. The airline’s expansion into Sapporo highlights its robust international connectivity, affordable fares, and frequent seat sales. In addition to Sapporo, Cebu Pacific also operates flights to Tokyo (Narita), Osaka, Nagoya, and Fukuoka from Manila, Clark, and Cebu.
Starting January 16, Cebu Pacific will offer direct flights between Manila and Sapporo three times a week—on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. The flight departs Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) at 11:15 AM and arrives in Sapporo at 5:25 PM (local time). The return flight departs from New Chitose International Airport at 6:25 PM and lands in Manila at 11:20 PM (local time).
This new service reduces travel time by up to five hours, allowing passengers to save as much as 63% on airfare.
“Sapporo is a true gem of Japan, known for its winter wonders, beautiful natural parks, and rich cultural heritage. We are excited to make this remarkable destination more accessible to Filipino travelers, reaffirming our commitment to making air travel affordable and convenient for every Juan,” said Xander Lao, President and Chief Commercial Officer of Cebu Pacific.
The launch was celebrated with a festive ceremony at NAIA Terminal 3, attended by His Excellency Kazuya Endo, Ambassador of Japan to the Philippines, Philippine Transportation Undersecretary Bobby Lim, and Makoto Watanabe, Executive Director of the Japan National Tourism Organization.
In his remarks, Ambassador Endo encouraged Filipinos to visit Japan and explore Hokkaido, emphasizing the collaboration between the Japanese government and the Philippine Department of Tourism to promote tourism and cultural exchanges between the two countries.
The new route also opens up opportunities for travelers to experience Sapporo’s famous winter activities, such as skiing on pristine snow and visiting the iconic Sapporo Snow Festival. Other attractions include the Sapporo Beer Museum, scenic walks along the Otaru Canal, and relaxing stays in local onsens.
Passengers can use their existing Travel Funds for bookings and additional services, with various payment options available, including credit/debit cards and e-wallets.
Cebu Pacific operates flights to 37 domestic and 26 international destinations across Asia, Australia, and the Middle East.
