CIDG, SBMA seize ₱9-Million worth of counterfeit TVs in Subic Bay Freeport

A joint operation led by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) and the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) resulted in the seizure of counterfeit television units worth ₱9 million at a company in the Subic Bay Freeport on Thursday, February 6.

CIDG Police Capt. Jan Michael Jardin stated that the operation, part of Oplan Megashopper, was conducted following the execution of a search warrant at Enjoy Electronics Subic International, located along Corregidor Highway in the Ilanin West District of the Freeport.

The authorities confiscated a significant haul of counterfeit electronics, including 40 boxes containing 1,286 TV panel boards, 50 boxes with 830 TV back covers, 25 boxes with 2,000 TV motherboards, and 41 counterfeit television sets. Other seized items included 313 TV front covers, 100 TV speakers, 310 power cords, 4,000 power boards, and 24 bundles of TV packaging boxes, as well as delivery receipts and counterfeit stickers bearing brand names.

The total value of the seized goods was estimated at ₱9 million.

CIDG authorities are still attempting to locate key officials of Enjoy Electronics Subic International, including Treasurer Zuhai Huang and Shareholders Wang Teng Teng, Huang Xiaoping, and Huang Wufa, all residents of the Ilanin West District in the Subic Bay Freeport Zone.

The operation was carried out by the CIDG Pampanga PFU, in coordination with several other law enforcement units, including the CIDG Bataan PFU, RSOT-RFU3, CIDG-MCIU, SBMA Law Enforcement Department, SBMA Intelligence and Investigation Office, PNP-IMEG3, Morong MPS, and Bataan PPO.

Capt. Jardin assured that the search was executed legally and peacefully, with the company’s OIC, Ms. Anna May Robles, present as a witness, along with representatives from the SBMA Intelligence and Investigation Office and SBMA Law Enforcement Department.

The operation stemmed from a search warrant issued by Hon. Sheryll Dolendo Tulabing, Presiding Judge of RTC Branch 28, Manila, for a violation of Section 155 in relation to Section 170 of Republic Act 8293, or Trademark Infringement.

All confiscated items were turned over to CIDG Pampanga PFU for documentation and proper disposition, and the necessary documents are being prepared for the filing of appropriate charges.
