CONVERGE EXPANDS UNANG YAKAP PROGRAM WITH CARITAS MANILA

Converge ICT Solutions Inc., known for its cutting-edge fiber broadband services, continues to make a significant impact on Filipino communities, particularly through its commitment to sustainability and social responsibility.

Among its key initiatives is the Unang Yakap program, in partnership with Caritas Manila, which has been making strides in supporting underprivileged mothers and their infants during the critical first 1,000 days of life. The program focuses on nutritional assistance, medical care, and education to promote healthier communities while aligning with Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 2 (Zero Hunger) and 3 (Good Health and Well-Being).

Establishing an Unang Yakap Community
In 2024, Converge deepened its involvement in Unang Yakap, beginning with a Mother’s Day fundraiser organized by its women mentorship program, Grace Under Pressure: MentorSHE. Senior leaders, including Converge President and Co-Founder Grace Uy, donated pre-loved items for a company-wide silent auction, raising over ₱100,000.

The funds enabled Converge to sponsor 14 women in Baseco, Tondo, and establish a dedicated Unang Yakap community in the area. These women now benefit from daily feeding programs, free vitamins, regular medical check-ups, laboratory tests, and educational seminars on childcare—all facilitated by Caritas Manila.

For mothers like Michelle, the program has been life-changing. “Sobrang nakakatulong sa amin lalo na walang trabaho ‘yung mister ko. Nakakatulong po ‘yung feeding sa amin sa araw-araw lalo na sa mga bata,” she shared.

In addition to health support, Converge introduced income-generating opportunities by training mothers on social media and sales. Through its prepaid broadband brand, Surf2Sawa (S2S), the company enabled them to earn as sales agents or load resellers, providing an additional source of livelihood.

Sharing Warmth and Joy
During the recent holiday season, Converge brought cheer to the Baseco community with a festive gift-giving event. Volunteers, MentorSHE participants, and beneficiaries came together for a day of games, dancing, and raffles. All attendees received Noche Buena packages, spreading holiday warmth and joy.

Building a Brighter Future
Through Unang Yakap, Converge has empowered mothers and strengthened communities, offering not just health and nutrition but also hope for a brighter future. As the program grows, Converge remains steadfast in its mission to create lasting positive impacts for Filipinos across the nation.
