Clark International Airport gets Permanent Aerodrome Certificate

Clark International Airport (CRK) has officially been awarded the Permanent Aerodrome Certificate by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP). This certification validates the airport’s adherence to international safety standards, solidifying its role as a key hub for both international and domestic travel in the Philippines.

Noel Manankil, CEO and President of Luzon International Premiere Airport Development (LIPAD), the operator of CRK, expressed pride in the achievement. “This certification is a significant milestone for CRK. Achieving it in under three years is a testament to our team’s dedication and our commitment to providing safe, efficient, and high-quality airport services,” he said.

The certification follows CRK’s successful compliance in several critical areas, including aerodrome facilities, services, and equipment, all of which meet the CAAP Manual of Standards. The airport’s procedures ensure the safety of aircraft, and its Aerodrome Manual is fully compliant with international standards. Additionally, the airport operator has proven its competence, and CRK’s Safety Management System meets all requirements, with a full-scale emergency exercise successfully conducted.

Manankil also highlighted CRK’s ongoing focus on passenger and operational safety. “As we continue to expand and connect the world through CRK, this recognition motivates us to maintain the highest levels of excellence and innovation in aviation,” he added.

This achievement comes at a crucial time, as CRK prepares for a surge in aircraft and passenger traffic, particularly with the transfer of turboprop operations following a resolution by the Manila Slot Coordination Committee.

Key figures involved in the milestone included Noel F. Manankil, CEO of LIPAD; Captain Manuel Antonio Lara Tamayo, Director General of CAAP; and Engr. Joshua M. Bingcang, CEO of the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA).
