Fiber broadband and technology provider Converge ICT Solutions Inc. has been recognized as a finalist for the 2025 Privacy Initiative of the Year at the National Privacy Commission’s (NPC) Privacy Awareness Week (PAW) Awards for its innovative Project PIGLET (Privacy Integration through Guided Learning of Emerging Technologies).
Project PIGLET is aimed at strengthening digital literacy and privacy awareness among primary school students, emphasizing the importance of protecting personal data in an increasingly digital environment.
“In a world where people are always online, Project PIGLET is important for teaching kids about privacy and data protection. We are proud that the NPC sees our work in helping build a safer and smarter digital community from the ground up,” said Atty. Laurice Esteban-Tuason, Converge Corporate Compliance and Data Protection Officer. “We remain committed to continuing this movement so that protecting privacy becomes a lifelong habit for all.”
The NPC’s annual PAW Awards honor organizations that exemplify strong compliance with the Data Privacy Act of 2012 and encourage continued advocacy for data protection.
As part of Project PIGLET, the Converge Corporate Governance and Data Privacy (CGDP) Group conducts interactive storytelling sessions in schools. Students, parents, and teachers are introduced to the adventures of the “Astro Kids” in the “Internet Universe,” which highlight the risks of sharing personal information with suspicious online characters. The lessons encourage vigilance and the importance of reporting any concerns to trusted adults, guided by the character Captain Conrad.
Project PIGLET has already reached students from Francisco Legaspi Memorial School in Pasig and Anunas Elementary School in Angeles, Pampanga, engaging Grades 2 to 6 students in age-appropriate discussions on digital literacy and responsible online behavior.
Converge plans to expand the initiative, adopting new approaches to reach more students across different academic levels and broaden the campaign’s impact nationwide.
