The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has successfully completed a new 432-square meter multipurpose building in Concepcion, Tarlac, designed to enhance healthcare services for the local community.
The facility, built with P11.87 million from the 2024 national budget, will serve as the new health center for Barangay Sta. Cruz. According to DPWH Tarlac 2nd District Engineer Edward Ricardo Ramos, this new health center aims to bring medical services closer to the community, providing space for primary care services such as maternal health, family planning, check-ups, and diagnostics.
“This facility significantly improves healthcare delivery by providing the residents of Sta. Cruz and nine other neighboring barangays with better access to primary care,” said Ramos. “It offers a well-equipped space to address a wide range of medical needs right in the heart of the community.”
Rural Health Unit (RHU) Pharmacist Lee Angelo Pelayo expressed gratitude for the new building, noting how the extra space will make a major difference in the quality of service they can offer.
“This project is a huge help, especially in terms of space. Our patients won’t be crowded in one place like they were at the old RHU, reducing the risk of cross-contamination,” Pelayo explained.
RHU Physician Dolores Cunanan also shared her enthusiasm for the new facility. She said that the larger space and improved amenities would allow them to provide more efficient healthcare to not only Sta. Cruz residents but also those from neighboring areas once the center is fully operational.
The facility is designed with various areas that can be adapted for obstetric care, family planning services, and diagnostic testing, ensuring that healthcare in the area remains accessible, comprehensive, and of high quality. (PIA Region 3-Tarlac)
