The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed a 60-meter steel bridge that connects Barangays Turu and Balitucan in Magalang, Pampanga.

It enhances connectivity in the area by improving access for pedestrians, motorists, and light to moderate vehicles, facilitating easier transport of goods and services between villages that ultimately boosts economic activity and social integration.

DPWH Pampanga 3rd OIC-District Engineer Arnold Ocampo said daily transportation has become much safer and more convenient with the completion of the project compared to the previous hanging bridge which may have posed safety risks especially during inclement weather or heavy traffic.

“We employed a sustainable approach by repurposing materials from the replaced Sto. Niño Bailey Bridge, now a concrete bridge, as the foundation for this project. This showcases our dedication to resourcefulness and environmental responsibility,” he shared.

Ocampo underscored that the completed infrastructure, which has a width of three meters, is a milestone in ongoing efforts to improve connectivity and accessibility within the district.

“We are proud to have delivered a durable and sustainable solution that will benefit the local communities for years to come,” he added.

About P4.8 million was allocated for the project. (PIA 3)
