ISRAEL UNCORKS WINE TOURISM TO FILIPINOS

Filipino wine enthusiasts and industry leaders were treated to a one-of-a-kind experience as Israel hosted its inaugural wine event in the Philippines, “L’Chaim, Discover Israeli Wine,” on December 4 at Uma Nota in Bonifacio Global City.

Organized by the Embassy of Israel in the Philippines in collaboration with the Israel Ministry of Tourism and the Israel Ministry of Economy and Industry, the event showcased the richness of Israeli winemaking, blending ancient traditions with modern innovation.

The event was graced by Israel’s Minister of Tourism, Haim Katz, who shared the deep cultural significance of wine in Jewish tradition.

“In Jewish culture, wine is more than a drink—it’s a symbol of friendship, brotherhood, and the forging of new connections,” Katz said. He emphasized Israel’s unique appeal as a travel destination, particularly for Christian tourists drawn to its historical and spiritual significance.

Ambassador Ilan Fluss underscored the importance of the event in strengthening ties between Israel and the Philippines.

“L’Chaim is not just a toast—it’s a celebration of life and friendship. This event reflects the growing bond between our countries and showcases Israel as a destination of innovation and culture,” Fluss said. He highlighted Israel’s journey from ancient biblical vineyards to becoming a modern powerhouse in the global wine industry.

The event featured insights from renowned Israeli wine expert and international judge Haim Gan, who lauded the growing global recognition of Israeli wines. Representatives from prominent wineries such as Teperberg, Bin Nun Winery, Amphorae Winery, and Lotem Organic Winery presented their finest selections, offering guests a taste of Israel’s award-winning craftsmanship.

Economic Counsellor Ofek Venecianer extended her gratitude to the visiting Israeli winery representatives, saying, “Tonight, we celebrated the passion, heritage, and innovation that make Israeli wines exceptional.”

Over 50 wine varieties from 15 Israeli wineries were unveiled, giving Filipino wine distributors and enthusiasts a glimpse into the diverse offerings of Israel’s wine industry. Attendees included government officials, business leaders, sommeliers, and media personalities, creating a vibrant platform for cultural exchange and business opportunities.

With its rich history, innovative techniques, and world-class wines, Israel is positioning itself as a premier destination for wine tourism. As Minister Katz aptly put it, “Israel’s wines are not only a taste of our heritage but also an invitation to explore the stories, landscapes, and people behind them.”

Cheers to new beginnings and stronger ties, as Israel and the Philippines raise a glass to a shared celebration of culture, innovation, and friendship.
