LUNES MALINIS at SAPANG BIABAS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

True to its commitment of promoting responsible solid waste management and environmental protection, Eco Protect Management Corporation (EPMC), led by President and CEO Alainne Tan, launched today, 27 February, the “LUNES, MALINIS” project at Sapang Biabas Elementary School.

This innovative corporate social responsibility initiative aims to address two critical issues: the growing plastic waste problem and the need for more comfortable seating for young students. By upcycling used single-use plastic sachets, EPMC will create durable student armchairs, aptly called “MALU Armchairs.”

EPMC will donate MALU Armchairs to the school free of charge, in exchange for 18 kg of clean, used single-use plastic sachets. The project targets elementary students from Grades 1 to 3, ensuring that their classroom experience is both comfortable and environmentally conscious.

The “MALU Armchair” is designed to be both ergonomic and sturdy, making it an ideal seating solution for growing children. The initiative reflects EPMC’s dedication to responsible solid waste management and its goal of reducing plastic pollution in the region.

According to President and CEO Alainne Tan, “EPMC is committed to making a meaningful impact on both the environment and education. Through LUNES, MALINIS, we aim to not only provide practical, functional seating for the children but also to empower them to be environmental stewards by actively participating in recycling and waste reduction.”

In addition to its environmental benefits, the project is aligned with the values of the Department of Education (DepEd) and has the potential to create a lasting impact on both the students and the city of Mabalacat. By transforming waste into useful resources, EPMC hopes to inspire young learners to embrace sustainability as part of their daily lives.

“Partnering with DepEd and local schools, we look forward to identifying more public schools that will benefit from this initiative,” Tan added. “Our goal is to expand the LUNES, MALINIS project and continue collaborating with the schools to ensure that the “MALU Armchairs” reach as many students as possible.”

With the LUNES MALINIS project, EPMC remains focused on its mission to foster environmental responsibility in the next generation while contributing to the ongoing fight against plastic waste. With a strong commitment to sustainability, EPMC is paving the way for a cleaner, greener future for both the community and the planet.
