To combat malnutrition in Pampanga, local conglomerate Laus Group of Companies (LGC), and the Ayala Multi-Purpose Cooperative (Ayala Coop) have partnered with the international non-profit organization Rise Against Hunger last October 20. Two hundred (200) volunteers from the above-mentioned companies came together at the LausGroup Events Centre in Pampanga to participate in the Dietary Supplement Program (DSP).

Volunteers packed meals for 900 children in daycare centers located in upland and indigenous towns and communities of Porac, Floridablanca, Guagua, Sta. Rita, Lubao, and Sasmuan in Pampanga. The LGU-Municipal Welfare & Development of Pampanga District 2, will oversee the program’s implementation in the nearby communities.

This is the second time LGC has worked with the non-profit organization, having previously hosted a similar event in 2019 to feed over 450 children in Pampanga.

Present at the event were CEO and Chairman of the LGC, Lisset Laus-Velasco, as well as former president and deputy speaker Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, who both assisted in packing the rice-soy meals designed specifically to improve or maintain a normal nutritional status for children through dietary supplementation. LGC President Paul Tristan Laus, LGC Executive Directors Carisa Laus and Diorella Laus, MTL Food Group President Maria Theresa Laus, Ayala Foundation President Tony Lambino, National President of the Association of Local Social Welfare & Development Officers of the Phils. Inc. (ALSWDOPI) and MSWD Head of Guagua Marybeth Mateo-Ortiz, and General Manager of Ayala Coop, Lourdes Orosa were all present to facilitate the turnover of meal packs to the local government unit.

The continuation of this collaboration, according to Laus-Velasco, further exemplifies the LausGroup’s decades-long efforts to support the people and communities in Pampanga. “The LausGroup of Companies has always been dedicated to assisting our fellow Kapampangans. . We are hopeful that through our small steps, we are able to encourage more organizations and communities to participate in this mission to end hunger,” she shares, “We stay committed to Pampanga’s continued inclusive development by building on our sense of community and being there for one another,” Laus-Velasco concluded in a statement.
