Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. said the city is expecting to finish its temporary waste transfer station this year, as this well serve as a sustainable solution and comfort and relief to the railroad waste problems in the grassroots level.

“This has been a challenge to us, solid waste management,” Lazatin said.

Lazatin bared this after Pampanga Vice Governor Lilia ‘Nanay’ Pineda administered the oathtaking of the newly-elected officials in the barangay level comprising 33 Barangay Captains and 231 Kagawads, and 33 Sangguniang Kabataan Chairpersons and 231 Kagawads on November 16, 2023 at Royce Hotel and Casino.

Also present were Pampanga Governor Dennis ‘Delta’ Pineda, First District Rep. Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II, Mabalacat City Mayor Crisostomo Garbo, Magalang town Malu Lacson, Angeles City Vice Mayor Vicenta Vega-Cabigting, Magalang town Councilor Norman Lacson, and Angeles City Councilors.

In addition, the city government is also scheduled to implement the segregation at source.

“Everyday we are receiving numerous reports on the problem of hauling garbage in the barangays,” Lazatin shared.

“Thus the establishment of a transfer station for the collected garbage.”

“We are currently solving this, as we are expecting to finish the temporary transfer station this year,” Lazatin said.

Lazatin furthered that “this will be a huge comfort and relief not just to the newly-elected officials but more to the Angeleños, in order to ensure to maximize our city’s resources for the waste collection.”

Part of the flagship programs of Mayor Lazatin is to ensure the waste management in the city, campaigning to maintain cleanliness and orderliness throughout the city.

To recall, Mayor Lazatin launched the Walang Plastikan Plastik Palit Bigas program, where 2.4 million kilograms plastic were collected and exchanged to rice.

The collected plastics were being converted to cement and bricks.

The Lazatin administration also acquired a ‘Bilis Walis Truck’ to conduct cleaning operations in the city’s major thoroughfares.
