Newly appointed Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) Chair Patrick Gregorio expressed deep gratitude to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. for entrusting him with the top post in Philippine sports development.

β€œIt is my honor and privilege to serve as the chair of the Philippine Sports Commission. I am grateful for the President’s trust and will do right by it,” Gregorio said in a statement Sunday.

Currently serving as president of the Philippine Rowing Association, Gregorio vowed to ensure stable and inspiring leadership at the PSC as he takes over from outgoing chair Dickie Bachmann.

β€œLet my leadership inspire as I have been inspired by the sheer potential in Philippine sports β€” to build and to strengthen this proud nation. Karangalan ko ang magsilbi sa bayan at sa mga atleta ng bayan,” he added.

Gregorio draws motivation from the recent international victories of Filipino athletes, including Olympic gold medalists Hidilyn Diaz and Carlos Yulo, and tennis ace Alex Eala’s strong finish in the Lexus Eastbourne Open in England.

A former PBA board chairman in 2014, Gregorio brings with him a wealth of leadership experience from both professional sports and national sporting bodies. While the exact date of his official assumption has yet to be announced, Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin confirmed the appointment on Saturday. (PNA)
