SEC INVESTOR EDUCATION ROADSHOW KICKS OFF IN ZAMBALES
The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Tarlac Extension Office (SEC-TAREO) kicked off its 2025 Investor Education Roadshow on January 16 at Magsaysay Memorial College of Zambales, Inc. (MMCZI) in San Narciso, Zambales, marking the first of many educational initiatives for the year.
In collaboration with MMCZI, a key partner in the SEC’s campaign network, the event aimed to equip senior high school and college students with essential financial literacy skills and raise awareness about fraudulent investment schemes.
The roadshow featured engaging presentations by Atty. Ma. Theresa L. Reotutar and Atty. Charito B. Santiago of SEC Tarlac. They discussed the importance of informed financial decision-making, how to recognize and avoid illegal investment practices, and introduced the five key financial emotions—Gipit, Duda, Waldas, Tipid, and Wais—that influence financial behavior and investment choices.

Dr. Joy Zenith F. Macalma, Executive Vice-President and College Dean of MMCZI, expressed her gratitude for the initiative, emphasizing the importance of financial literacy in preparing students for the future. “Programs like these not only educate our youth but also protect them from potential financial pitfalls. We are grateful to SEC Tarlac for bringing this valuable initiative to our campus,” Dr. Macalma said.
Participants actively engaged in the discussions, asking questions about financial management and sharing their own experiences with financial challenges and opportunities. Many students expressed their appreciation for the SEC’s efforts to bring this important information directly to their community.
This roadshow marks the start of SEC Tarlac’s 2025 campaign to expand its reach across more communities and campuses in the region, continuing to promote financial literacy and investor protection. The initiative supports the SEC’s mission to foster a generation of informed and responsible investors, ensuring that the Filipino public is aware of legitimate investment opportunities while remaining vigilant against scams.
