For the 8th consecutive year, SM City Pampanga’s Biggest Lantern of Hope illuminates the skies of the Christmas Capital of the Philippines with a dazzling display of light, music, and festive cheer.
On November 30, shoppers and visitors witnessed a spectacular 10-minute fireworks display at The Amphitheatre. This celebration opened an unforgettable holiday experience that blends traditional Kapampangan artistry, represented by the province’s famous handcrafted 𝑝𝑎𝑟𝑢𝑙, with modern light and sound technology.
The ceremonial lighting was led by SM Supermalls SAVP Johanna Rupisan, SM Supermalls Vice President Engr. Junias Eusebio, AVP for Operations Joseph Silva, City of San Fernando Vice Mayor BJ Lagman, Mexico Vice Mayor Susana Siron, Provincial Tourism Officer Michael Castañeda and Board Members Fritzie David-Dizon and Cherry Manalo.
Among those present were Department of Tourism – Region 3 Director Dr. Richard Daenos CSF City Tourism Officer Ching Pangilinan, candidates of Mutya Ning Kapampangan 2024 and the FranSeth celebrity tandem of Francine Diaz and Seth Fedelin.
In her welcome message, SM City Pampanga Mall Manager Charmaine Bacani said “This evening is not just about lighting up the night sky; it is about illuminating our hearts with hope, unity, and the spirit of the holiday season.”
The Mall Manager continued, “As we approach the festive season, may this beautiful lantern stand as a symbol of our shared hopes and dreams. May it serve as a beacon that will remind us of the light within each of us and the power we have when we come together as a community.”
This year’s centerpiece is the Pampanga Eye, the country’s tallest Ferris wheel, which comes alive with a grand pyro-musical show. Standing at 65 meters (213 feet) high and 50 meters (164 feet) in diameter, the Pampanga Eye sparkles with 17,664 LED lights, creating a breathtaking spectacle synced with holiday classics. Complementing the Ferris wheel are colorful ground-based and aerial fireworks that light up the night sky, filling the air with joy and wonder.
