HONG KONG – This March, Hong Kong comes alive with the vibrant energy of Super March, a month-long celebration packed with world-class art fairs, outdoor festivals, gallery showcases, spring sales at auction houses, and much more. With a long-standing reputation as a global cultural hub, the city invites both locals and tourists to dive into its dynamic atmosphere and experience a wealth of artistic and cultural events. A highlight this year is a heartfelt tribute to the works of one of the Philippines’ most celebrated artists.
Art Basel Hong Kong: A Showcase of Global Talent, Featuring Pacita Abad
As Asia’s leading arts hub, Hong Kong hosts some of the most anticipated international events during Super March, with Art Basel Hong Kong taking center stage. From March 28 to 30, 2025, the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre will be transformed into a dynamic art space, hosting 240 galleries from 42 countries. This prestigious event showcases a diverse range of artistic practices from around the world.

Among the standout features of this year’s Art Basel Hong Kong is the participation of the late Pacita Abad, one of the Philippines’ most renowned and beloved artists. Abad’s work, known for its bold use of color and exploration of socio-political themes, will be showcased in the Encounters exhibition. This sector highlights 18 large-scale installations, and Abad’s creations, with their vibrant iconographies and techniques drawn from the Global South, stand as a testament to her lasting legacy. Beyond Art Basel, her works will also be featured at Silverlens and Tina Kim Gallery.

A Father-Son Collaboration: Soler and Luis Antonio Santos
This year’s Art Basel also includes the work of Filipino father-and-son duo Soler and Luis Antonio Santos, who will be exhibiting through Manila-based gallery, The Drawing Room. Soler is known for his abstract works, while his son Luis Antonio brings photorealism into his pieces. Together, their works complement each other beautifully, offering a fusion of styles that has firmly entrenched them in the local Filipino art scene. Soler also heads the West Gallery in Quezon City, further solidifying their presence in the Philippine art world.
