Angeleños are up in arms over what they perceive as Tricycle Operators, Drivers Associations (TODAs) lording it over in the city.

It seems TODAs want the riding public to take tricycles ONLY. Posters have been posted in some streets advising other drivers not to pick up passengers closed to where their terminals are located.

But who gave them the permission to do that?

I understand that there is stiff competition between the tricycle drivers and other drivers plying the Grab, Joyride, Maxim and Angkas. But who are they to tell a passenger what means of transportation to take?

I for one will ONLY take a tricycle ride if there’s no other service available from other providers. But the problem is most drivers don’t follow the “Fare Matrix” set by the city government. They make passengers pay whatever they wish.

Some trike drivers are even rude and reckless drivers. They don’t follow traffic rules. They overtake whenever they see a chance, even in blind corners. They counter-flow whenever there’s so much traffic. So why would I ride in a tricycle?

Riding in a Grab or taxi, firstly, is very convenient as most, if not all, are air-conditioned and are very SAFE to ride in. So why would I ride in a tricycle?

If TODAs want people to get into one of their members’ trike, follow the Fare Matrix and be courteous.

Simple as that.

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) will soon establish a City Check-In Facility inside the SM City Clark. It will give passengers the convenience of checking-in while shopping before traveling from the Clark International Airport.

It’s one of the many improvements of the CRK facilities in assisting its passengers.
