The Angeles City government, under the leadership of Mayor Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin Jr., has renewed its appeal to residents to show discipline and solidarity in protecting the Abacan River and supporting ongoing slope protection and cleanup efforts.
Despite continuous operations by city frontliners and personnel to clear the river and improve its condition, officials stressed that their work will only succeed if the community refrains from dumping waste and damaging protective structures.

“The damage caused by indiscriminate waste disposal will persist if we do not work together,” the city government said in a statement, noting that workers are doing their best despite limited manpower and resources.
The city also reminded the public that stealing steel materials or equipment from slope protection projects undermines efforts to safeguard the river and ultimately harms residents themselves.
“We must not add to the problem. Instead, let us be part of the solution. By showing care, discipline, and responsibility, we can build a cleaner and safer Angeles City,” the statement added.
Officials urged Angeleños to embrace the spirit of bayanihan and protect the city’s natural resources, emphasizing that every act of cooperation brings hope for a better and more sustainable future.
