Vehicles transporting food and agricultural products will be granted free passage on all expressways starting April 20, 2026, following a directive from President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. aimed at keeping food prices stable amid rising fuel costs.
Transportation Secretary Banoy Lopez said the Toll Regulatory Board (TRB), Department of Agriculture (DA), and major toll concessionaires have agreed to implement toll relief to ensure the smooth and uninterrupted movement of agricultural goods.
“Ang utos sa atin ng Pangulo, dapat tuloy-tuloy ang pag-transport ng pagkain para matiyak na stable ang presyo,” Lopez said.
To qualify for the exemption, vehicles must be accredited by the DA and equipped with an RFID sticker. Savings are estimated at ₱600 to ₱1,800 per trip depending on vehicle class, with rebates credited weekly to RFID accounts.
The toll-free policy will initially run for one month and may be extended after review and consultation among concerned agencies and stakeholders.
Lopez also thanked industry partners for supporting the initiative, saying it will significantly help farmers and the agriculture sector.
In a related move, the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) has reduced roll-on/roll-off (RoRo) fees to ₱1 for vehicles carrying raw agricultural products to further support the food supply chain and stabilize prices.
