The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has recognized Angeles City’s Local Committee on Anti-Trafficking and Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC) with 95% functionality.
The DILG lauded the efforts of the Angeles City government, led by Mayor Carmelo ‘Pogi’ Lazatin Jr., in undertaking programs combatting violence against women and children.
Reports from the inter-agency’s monitoring team revealed that the performance of Angeles City has reached a high level of functionality.
Mayor Lazatin said his administration will continue to intensify its anti-trafficking related programs to further protect the welfare of children.
“We will not tolerate such wrongdoings in our city,” Mayor Lazatin asserted.
“Kapakanan ng kabataan at kinabukasan ng SiyudadAngeles ang manganganib sa illegal trafficking at violence against women and children,” Mayor Lazatin furthered.
Ever since Mayor Lazatin took office, the Gender and Development Office, with the City Social Welfare and Development Office and Angeles City Police Office has assisted 6,213, through the VAWC desk.
To recall, Mayor Lazatin has issued a marching order to ensure that VAWC desks in each 33 barangay are activated.
The Mayor also convened the Local Council for Protection of Children last March 2024, to revisit and strengthen programs for protection of children.
Meanwhile, Mayor Lazatin thanked the DILG for commending the city to fight the seeds of illegal trafficking and VAWC, as well as the efforts of key offices to work hand-in-hand for the primary goal for the city – to eradicate trafficking in person and violence against women and children.
