The Angeles City Government has announced updated guidelines for the suspension of classes in both public and private schools during inclement weather.
Under the new policy, schools in the city—whether under the Department of Education (DepEd) or privately managed—are now authorized to independently suspend classes based on their localized conditions.
This development comes following a meeting with DepEd and the Angeles City Association of Private Schools (ACAPS), where it was also agreed that Senior High School students (Grades 11 and 12) will now be included in class suspensions once Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 2 is raised in the city.
Here is the revised guideline for class suspensions:
In case of a Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal:
- Signal No. 1 – Classes are suspended for Kindergarten only.
- Signal No. 2– Kindergarten to Senior High School (Grades 11 and 12) classes are suspended.
- Signal No. 3 and above – All levels are suspended.
In case of Rainfall Warnings:
- Yellow Warning – School heads may decide on a localized suspension depending on their specific situation.
- Orange or Red Warning – Automatic suspension of classes in all levels.
Reporting and Coordination:
Public and private schools that opt to suspend classes are required to inform the Angeles City Information Office (CIO) of their decision. The CIO will then publish a list of schools that have declared suspensions via the city’s official Facebook page.
The Angeles City Government thanks all Angeleños for their continued cooperation and understanding.
