The Mabalacat City Government (MCG), through the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO), embarked on a massive tree-planting initiative across multiple venues in the city.
Planted were 100 Balakat seedlings, 30 Kasoy trees, 40 Camachile trees, 40 Sampalok trees, 25 Narra trees, 25 Dao trees, 20 Molave trees, and 70 Rambutan trees, or a total of 350 trees in locations such as Fiesta Communities in Dau, Brgy. Dau, The Hausland Mabalacat in Brgy. Mabiga, and Rivera Compound, in Brgy. Camachiles.
Some 1000 bamboo propagules were also planted at Eco Park, Sitio Turbina, Brgy. Tabun.
In a statement, Mayor Crisostomo Garbo, a staunch advocate for nature and the environment, emphasized the importance of collective action in preserving the city’s green spaces.
“The Arbor Day activity underscored the city’s dedication to environmental conservation, setting a good example for our kabalens to follow,” Garbo said.
Present at the activity were City Administrator Frank Madlangbayan, CENRO head Engr. Susan Santiago, CPDO head Rosan Paquia, City Agriculture head Jeam Espanta, and Hauslands President Wilfredo Tan, councilors Rox Peña and Noel Castro, barangay captains and kagawads of Dau, Mabiga and Camachilles.
Also present were some 300 participants from various companies and corporations including The Hauslands, Fiesta Communities, Clark Development Corporation, Sogo Hotel, Hann Resorts, Environmental Practitioners Association, SkyTech, SM HyperMarket, Jollibee Camachiles, TECO Industrial Locators, the AirForce, Yokohama, MCC Kayantabe, Junior Chamber Intl, and Madapdap High School.
At Sitio Turbina, there were around 500 students from Mabalacat City College who participated in the tree-planting activity.
