The Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) has signed three new agreements with Korean business experts to help transform New Clark City into a leading investment and tourism hub in Asia.
On October 7, 2024, during the Philippines-Korea Business Forum at the Manila Hotel, BCDA and Korea-based RMS Platform signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to explore smart city infrastructure development, including an eGovernment digital platform. This platform aims to be a one-stop shop for citizens and businesses in New Clark City, offering city information, online services, and transactions.
BCDA also signed an MOU with the Korea Overseas Infrastructure and Urban Development Corporation (KIND) to study affordable residential communities in New Clark City. The partnership will focus on cost-effective and sustainable housing solutions to ensure quality living environments for Filipino families.
Additionally, on October 8, 2024, BCDA signed a third MOU with Korea-based Fine TME to collaborate on studies for the efficient management of New Clark City’s sports facilities. The goal is to use modern technology to establish the city as a premier hub for both national and international sports events.
These agreements coincide with the state visit of Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol, aimed at strengthening cooperation between South Korea and the Philippines in infrastructure, trade, and investments.
BCDA President Engr. Joshua Bingcang expressed confidence that these partnerships would elevate New Clark City to a global standard for urban development, supporting President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s Build Better More program and aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically SDG 9 on infrastructure and innovation.
