Bureau of Customs (BOC) Commissioner Ariel F. Nepomuceno has once again emphasized the strict enforcement of the agencyโs โNo Takeโ policy, which prohibits all forms of bribery and illegal monetary transactions. As part of the BOCโs ongoing anti-corruption campaign, the Commissioner made it clear that any act of corruptionโwhether by BOC personnel or external stakeholdersโwill not be tolerated under his watch.
โThis policy is non-negotiable. It will be upheld from day one of my term until my last day in office,โ Nepomuceno said in a firm statement.
He called on all stakeholdersโincluding importers, customs brokers, and trade industry participantsโnot only to follow the rules but to actively support the push for clean and transparent governance. He stressed that the policyโs effectiveness relies not only on internal enforcement but also on the integrity and discipline of those who interact with the Bureau.
โWe cannot win the fight against corruption if stakeholders continue to offer bribes or engage in under-the-table deals,โ he warned. โThis is a shared responsibility. Everyoneโinside and outside the Bureauโmust commit to the same standards of honesty and accountability.โ
Commissioner Nepomuceno also urged the private sector to report any form of misconduct or corruption attempts they may encounter. โLet this be clear: those who choose to engage in corrupt practices, regardless of their position, will be held accountable,โ he added.
The Bureau of Customs remains committed to promoting a culture of integrity, professionalism, and public accountability. With the active cooperation of its partners in the private sector, the BOC aims to ensure a fair, transparent, and law-abiding trade environment for all.
