Hailed as the perfect race-cation venue, Bohol will once again welcome athletes for the sixth year of the Sun Life 5150TM Bohol Triathlon. Known for its stunning natural landscapes, pristine beaches and vibrant culture, racing in picturesque Bohol is always enjoyable and memorable.
βThe 5150 Triathlon in Bohol is a premier event that brings in athletes and their families into our islands each year, supporting and providing a valuable boost to local businesses. The province is forging ahead in cementing Bohol as the race destination to host world-class events,β said Gov. Erico Aristotle Aumentado of the Province of Bohol.
The 5150 Bohol, consists of a 1.5-kilometer swim, a 40-kilometer bike ride, and a 10-kilometer run, and will see almost 400 triathletes in action, mostly from the 25-44 age group. “Events like the 5150 Bohol are important not only to the triathlon community but to the local community and we are thrilled that weβre back in action once again. We look forward to sharing our stunning beaches, and beautiful coastal roads, and now, being one of UNESCOβs First Geopark in the Philippines, visitors get to see the interweaving of nature and progressive quality of life in our community through sports and lifestyle events, said Cong. Vanessa Aumentado.
This festival celebrates the 1565 Treaty of Friendship signed between Datu Sikatuna, the chieftain of Bohol, and Miguel Lopez de Legazpi, the Spanish conquistador. Along with the 5150 race, some of the highlights of the celebration are the 169th anniversary of Boholβs birthday and the βmardi grasβ street dancing competitions.
For three years, Sun Life Philippines has partnered with The IRONMAN Group in bringing the 5150 events to Naga and Bohol.
βSun Life is always eager to offer opportunities for Filipinos to enhance their health and wellness. This is why we are happy to support the Sun Life 5150 Triathlon for the third time. This race not only allows participants to put their skills to the test, but it also inspires others who follow their journey. And when they learn to value their health more, the better they will understand why health protection plans are crucial in living healthier lives,β said Ms. Carla Gonzalez-Chong, Sun Lifeβs Chief Client Experience & Marketing Officer.
This year, Sun Life Health Ambassadors Piolo Pascual and Matteo Guidicelli will participate in the race, to promote physical and mental health and well-being through a sporty lifestyle.
