City of San Fernando Mayor Vilma Caluag has issued a statement in reaction to the vote-buying case filed against her, her husband, former Barangay Dolores Chairman Melchor Caluag, and Julmar Mercado.
In her statement, Mayor Caluag vehemently denied any involvement in the alleged vote-buying activities, calling the accusations baseless and politically motivated. She emphasized her commitment to upholding the integrity of the electoral process and stressed that the case is an attempt to undermine her administration.
“I have always worked tirelessly for the betterment of the people of San Fernando,” Mayor Caluag stated. “These allegations are unfounded, and I trust that the judicial process will clear my name and that of my husband and our colleague, Mr. Mercado.”
The Mayor also expressed confidence in the legal system, stating that she and her family will cooperate fully with the authorities to ensure a fair and transparent investigation. She called on her supporters to remain calm and not be swayed by the false accusations.
“We will face this challenge head-on and continue to focus on serving the people of San Fernando. My administration will not be distracted by these politically motivated charges,” she concluded.
