The Provincial Government of Pampanga has stepped up its response to communities affected by Typhoon Uwan, extending both relief assistance and psychosocial support to displaced families, including children.
According to the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), a total of 1,161 families, or 3,926 individuals, from the towns of Macabebe and Masantol were evacuated following continuous rainfall and rising floodwaters.

To address their immediate needs, Vice Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda personally led the distribution of relief packs from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) to affected residents.
Among the beneficiaries was Marilou Lopez, 31, of Barangay Bebe Anac, who expressed gratitude for the swift government response.
“Malaking tulong po ito sa amin. Salamat po sa agarang aksyon na ibinigay niyo sa amin,” Lopez said.
The provincial government also conveyed its appreciation to DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian for the agency’s timely assistance to Kapampangan families.
Beyond relief distribution, the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO), in coordination with the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) and Child Development Workers of Sasmuan, organized child-friendly activities at the Provincial Evacuation Center in Sta. Catalina, Lubao to help children cope with the emotional impact of displacement.
“Layunin ng ganitong aktibidad na magbigay ng psychosocial support sa mga bata lalo na’t sila ay nakaranas ng stress matapos lumikas mula sa kanilang tahanan — ang lugar na itinuturing nilang pinakaligtas,” said PSWD Officer Fe Manarang.
She added that with classes still suspended, it is important to give children a chance to experience joy and learning through play, reading sessions, and educational activities.
