Cebu Pacific (PSE: CEB), the Philippinesโ€™ leading carrier, has signed a five-year partnership with De La Salle University (DLSU) โ€“ Manila to mentor the next generation of Filipino aviation engineers through its Design Engineering Program.

Under the Memorandum of Agreement, select DLSU engineering students will work with CEBโ€™s technical experts on real-world projects such as smart aircraft maintenance systems and sustainable mobility solutions, which will also serve as their thesis or capstone requirements.

โ€œThis partnership invests in more than projectsโ€”it invests in people. By guiding young engineers to innovate with purpose, we are building the future of Philippine aviation together,โ€ said Shevantha Weerasekera, CEB Vice President for Engineering and Fleet Management.

For its pilot run this year, 25 DLSU students have been chosen for the programโ€”the airlineโ€™s first formal collaboration with a university to integrate practical airline industry experience into higher education. Cebu Pacific said it aims to expand the program to more schools in the future as part of its long-term investment in Philippine aviation.

This initiative follows the launch of CEBโ€™s OFW Balikbayan Program in May 2025, which encourages Filipino engineers abroad to return and share their expertise with the local aviation sector.
