Cebu Pacific (PSE: CEB), the Philippines’ leading airline, celebrated the launch of its first direct flights from Manila to Chiang Mai, Thailand, on October 29, offering travelers a convenient, affordable gateway to the scenic landscapes of northern Thailand.
The new Manila-Chiang Mai route operates three times a week—every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday—making Cebu Pacific the only airline in the Philippines to provide direct flights to Chiang Mai. An inaugural event at Ninoy Aquino International Airport marked the occasion, attended by Thai Ambassador to the Philippines, His Excellency Mr. Tull Traisorat, and Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Director, Ms. Yatika Kaewborisoot.
CEB President and Chief Commercial Officer Xander Lao emphasized the airline’s dedication to expanding travel options for Filipinos, stating, “The launch of the Manila-Chiang Mai route underscores our commitment to making air travel more accessible. We are thrilled to offer passengers more opportunities to explore exciting destinations around the world.”
With this direct route, passengers can now save up to eight hours in travel time and reduce their flight costs by as much as 64%. The connection opens doors for more Filipinos to experience Chiang Mai’s vibrant Lantern Festival, explore its famous markets and handicrafts, and visit the revered Wat Phra That Doi Suthep temple.
To celebrate the maiden flight, Cebu Pacific treated passengers to Thai snacks and travel essentials, courtesy of TAT, ensuring a memorable start to their journey.
With this new route, Cebu Pacific continues to expand its footprint, now serving 35 domestic and 26 international destinations across Asia, Australia, and the Middle East.
