Cebu Pacific (PSE: CEB), the Philippines’ leading airline, has been named 𝐀𝐢𝐫𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐘𝐞𝐚𝐫 at the 2023 Philippine Sports Tourism Awards (PSTA) for its pivotal role in supporting the country’s sports tourism sector.

The recognition highlights Cebu Pacific’s contributions to the booming sports tourism industry, particularly in Siargao, a renowned global surfing destination. Since launching flights to the island in 2009, Cebu Pacific has played a key role in enhancing access for athletes and travelers, solidifying Siargao’s reputation as a premier hub for water sports.

“Cebu Pacific’s connection to Siargao and other sports destinations has fueled local economies, boosted community pride, and showcased the Philippines as a global sports tourism hotspot. We are more than just an airline; we are a partner in creating experiences that inspire, challenge, and unite,” said Strawberry Angeli Mercado, CEB Sales Manager for Visayas and Mindanao, during the awards ceremony on November 22.

Now in its sixth year, the PSTA celebrates organizations that elevate the synergy between sports and tourism, driving economic and cultural growth. Cebu Pacific’s accolade underscores its commitment to making sports destinations more accessible, fostering opportunities for both recreational and competitive activities.

This is not the first time Cebu Pacific has been recognized for its efforts. In 2022, the airline received the same award for its support of Filipino athletes in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics.
