Pampanga First District Representative Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. launched the first-ever Malunggay Ice Cream initiative in the district on July 1, 2025—bringing a cool and nutritious twist to his ongoing campaign for child nutrition.

Personally funded by Lazatin, the malunggay-infused ice cream will be distributed to day care students across the First District, beginning with 1,665 kids in Magalang.

In addition to the ice cream, each day care student will receive a tote bag of school supplies, while their parents will be given five kilos of rice—also donated by Lazatin.

This latest effort echoes Lazatin’s successful nutrition drive in Angeles City, where he introduced the “Pusong Mamon” malunggay bun in 2022. Within a year, the city saw a dramatic 63% drop in malnutrition among children.

As a legislator, Lazatin has pledged to prioritize health and nutrition. He is set to push for the expansion of the Primary Care Package under the Universal Health Care Act, advocating for more accessible check-ups, lab tests, mental health services, and reduced out-of-pocket costs for patients.
