A total of 20 young individuals from the municipality of Ramos in Tarlac have undergone an education seminar on Consumer Awareness and Responsiveness.
Organized by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), the seminar aims to heighten the consciousness of participants on their rights and responsibilities as consumers.
DTI Tarlac OIC Provincial Director Florencia Balilo further explained that the seminar seeks to empower and hone the youth as force-multipliers in the consumer protection advocacy.
“Since these young ones are already purchasing in brick-and mortar stores and online stores, it is best for them to be equipped with the proper knowledge to ensure their protection as consumers,” Balilo said.
Topics discussed were Eight Consumer Rights and Five Consumer Responsibilities.
Balilo also urged the participants to be discerning and judicious when purchasing goods and services whether in-store or online.
She added that they must exercise due diligence, and practice their responsibilities as consumers.
DTI regularly conducts education seminars on consumer awareness to protect them against dishonest traders and entrepreneurs, and defective products. (PIA Region 3- Tarlac | Trixie Joy B. Manalili)
