DILG issues Circular banning names, images of officials on Government projects

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has released Memorandum Circular (MC) No. 2026-006, reiterating the strict prohibition on the display or placement of names, images, and likenesses of public officials on government-funded projects.

Under Section 5.2 of the circular, all covered officials and employees are directed to immediately remove existing signages, tarpaulins, markers, and other materials that violate the policy.

The issuance emphasizes that government resources must not be used for personal promotion or political advantage, reinforcing principles of neutrality, accountability, and ethical governance in public service.

The circular also reminds concerned officials and offices to ensure compliance throughout all phases of project implementation, including planning, execution, and monitoring.

Through MC 2026-006, the DILG reaffirmed that public service is centered on serving the people rather than promoting individuals, stressing that government projects belong to the public they are intended to benefit.
