After conducting an inspection this morning, Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Vince Dizon instructed DOTr MRT-3 to extend its night service operations by at least one (1) hour.

The transport chief likewise directed the MRT-3 to deploy additional trains during peak hours.

The DOTr Secretary conducted an inspection of the MRT-3 on Monday morning to assess the condition of the trains and engage with passengers during the peak rush hour. He visited the Taft, Ayala, and Shaw stations of the MRT-3, where he personally spoke with several passengers to gather suggestions on how to improve the train service.

The Secretary assured that the Department of Transportation is prioritizing efforts to speed up passenger lines, improve the boarding and alighting process, repaint station markings, and repair broken turnstiles.

Immediate action will also be taken to install lighting in the dimly lit areas of the stations and create covered walkways connecting the train stations to other transportation options such as buses and jeepneys.
