The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has received its first bundled unsolicited proposal for the modernization and expansion of regional airports in Davao, Siargao, and Bicol, Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon announced.

The proposal, submitted by a consortium led by JG Summit and Filinvest Group, is part of the governmentโ€™s push to improve regional connectivity, following President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.โ€™s directive to upgrade airport facilities nationwide.

โ€œThis is the first bundled airport unsolicited proposal since we took over the DOTr. These upgrades will help boost tourism and economic activity in the provinces,โ€ Dizon said.

The proposal will undergo review and negotiations under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Code or Republic Act No. 11966.

โ€œThe Presidentโ€™s message is clearโ€”weโ€™re not just focused on Metro Manila. We are prioritizing development across all regions,โ€ Dizon added.
