The Schools Division Office (SDO) of Angeles City has issued a statement addressing circulating reports on social media claiming that around 9,000 students across the Division have experienced flu-like symptoms.
According to the SDO, the figures being shared are not yet verified and remain subject to validation by the Division’s School Health and Nutrition Unit (SHNU). The initial data, they clarified, came from advisory-level surveys conducted by school personnel and have not undergone full verification and cross-checking.
To ensure accuracy, the Division said it is now coordinating with the City Health Office to review and confirm the reported cases.
“We understand the concern this news may have caused among parents, educators, and the general public,” the statement read. “The health and well-being of our learners are our top priorities, and we are treating this matter with the utmost seriousness and urgency.”
The SDO also expressed empathy for students who may be feeling unwell and assured that appropriate measures will be implemented once the data has been confirmed.
Officials urged the public to refrain from sharing unverified information and to rely only on official updates released by the Schools Division Office.
Further announcements will be made once the validation process is completed.
