Two-time Olympian Kayla Sanchez made waves at the 2025 U Sports Swimming Championships in Toronto, Canada, where she was named the top athlete of the tournament.

Competing for the University of British Columbia, the Filipino-Canadian swimmer delivered a stellar performance, winning seven gold medals and setting two national records in the women’s 50m butterfly (25.85 seconds) and 50m freestyle (24.18 seconds).

An Olympic silver and bronze medalist, Sanchez is expected to lead the Philippine national team at the 33rd Southeast Asian Games in Thailand this December.
