Globe Telecom has mobilized personnel and resources in anticipation of Typhoon Ofel, expected to impact areas across Luzon. The telecom company has strategically positioned generator sets and backup batteries at network facilities to mitigate potential power disruptions. Technical and support crews, along with emergency supplies, are also on standby for rapid response as needed.
“Our teams and supplies are ready to respond to Ofel’s impact in Luzon. Our network facilities are designed for resilience, enabling us to restore services swiftly in case of outages,” said Yoly Crisanto, Globe’s Chief Sustainability and Corporate Communications Officer. Globe also urges the public to rely on legitimate sources for weather updates, offering free data access to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) website.
Restoration Efforts Following Typhoon Nika
Globe has commenced restoration work in areas affected by Typhoon Nika, which hit northeastern Luzon on Monday. Service has been fully restored in Batanes, La Union, and Pangasinan, while efforts continue in parts of Apayao, Aurora, Benguet, Cagayan, Ifugao, Ilocos Norte, Isabela, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Nueva Vizcaya, Pangasinan, and Quirino.
Support Stations for Areas Affected by Typhoon Marce
In response to Typhoon Marce, Globe has set up “Libreng Tawag,” “Libreng Charging,” and “Libreng WiFi” stations at 11 locations across Northern Luzon. These stations, active since November 8, provide free communication and charging services to help affected residents stay connected and facilitate relief coordination efforts. The booths will remain open until commercial power is fully restored in the following areas:
