The City Government of San Fernando, led by the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), commenced the celebration of National Disaster Resilience Month (NDRM) 2024 with a city-wide motorcade.
CDRRM Officer Raymond Del Rosario represented Mayor Vilma Balle-Caluag in the opening ceremony of the motorcade as he spoke before the CDRRMO personnel, barangay officials, officers of attached agencies, civic groups, and various departments of the CGSFP on the objectives of the NDRM.
Del Rosario highlighted the yearly active participation of the City of San Fernando in the NDRM, underscoring the continuous efforts of the CGSFP to improve its readiness and preparedness for disasters.
The city-wide motorcade began at the Giant Lantern and Tourist Information Center (in the former Paskuhan Village) and made its way to SM City Telabastagan through Jose Abad Santos Avenue and MacArthur Highway. It ended at the City Command and Control Center, Civic Center compound in San Isidro.
Just last week, the San Fernando Rescue Unit under the CDRRMO, together with other force multipliers, also showed their skills in handling emergency situations during the Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill at the City Civic Center, joined by several departments of the CGSFP. On July 8, during the City’s flag-raising ceremony, the CDRRMO CSFP will unveil the official calendar of activities for the NDRM 2024.
