Indonesian Trade Attache Martin P. Hutabarat of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in the Philippines visited and met with officials of the Pampanga Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (PamCham).
The trade attache was received by PamCham’s President Terry Carlos, Vice-Chairman Willy Tan, Dir.Jim Jimemez, Dir. Robert Lo and Dir.& General Counsel Paulino Yusi. They were joined by Mr. Allan Bituin, PamCham member, whose well-known furniture company is currently doing business in Indonesia.
Mr. Hutabarat and his trade mission team expressed their delight that Phil-Indonesian trade relations are good and hopeful that it will further improve in the coming years. He mentions certain Indonesian consumer products are currently already in the Philippine market.
PamCham Vice Chair Tan and President Carlos mentioned that Indonesia and the Philippines, particularly the Capampangan region, share a lot in common as far as heritage, tradition and language are concerned.
Mr. Hubarat personally extended to PamCham an invitation to attend the 38th Trade Expo with the theme “Sustainable Trade For Global Economic Resilience” to be hosted by the Indonesian Ministry of Trade from Oct. 18 to 22, 2023. He further said that PH was among the Top 5 country partners in terms of Trade Values in the year 2022, China being No. 1 in the list followed by India, Japan and Egypt.
It is notable that Universal Robina Corp. (URC) , a well known Filipino owned company, already has its presence in Indonesia manufacturing our favorite Filipino snacks, such as Piattos, Poppins, Chiz King, Roller Coaster and Cloud 9.
Dir. Yusi requested Mr. Hutabarat to apprise him of their Indonesian Foreign Investment Law to help more PamCham members who may have potential interest in investing in their country as what Mr. Bituin already did.
The meeting ended with the Indonesian Trade mission handing over to PamCham officers bags of goodies containing products already in our market.
