“You do things for your community, para queng kekang balen.” This is the core mission of Kuliat Foundation, Inc., according to its President, Lincoln M. Baluyut, who, along with KFI Secretary, sat down for a live interview on the CLTV-36 show Nanu Pa Ta.
In its July 4 episode, Nanu Pa Ta, hosted by Jhoedie Mercado and Jenna Lumbang Parungao, inquired on the updates on developments of KFI and Museo Ning Angeles.
KFI, as explained by Baluyut and Torno, is a non-profit organization whose sole mission is to preserve the culture, culinary, traditions, and history of Angeles City. The KFI officers shared that holding a position in the organization is a ‘divine intervention’ because they treat it as community involvement.
They mentioned that KFI is fully supported by the Local Government Unit of Angeles City, the Angeles City Tourism Office and the Department of Tourism.
The KFI president also said that through a usufruct agreement, the Angeles City LGU has turned over the management of Museo Ning Angeles for a period of 50 years.
Museo Ning Angeles was initially built as a town hall in 1922. The old municipio building was then transformed into Museo Ning Angeles in 1999.
Baluyut and Torno said they felt fortunate to have been elected as officers of KFI when Museo Ning Angeles, or the old municipio, celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2022.
Baluyut also expressed gratitude to Mayor Carmelo ‘Pogi’ Lazatin, Jr. for granting subsidy to KFI since he became mayor in 2019. The annual subsidy is used for the upkeep, operations and projects of Museo Ning Angeles.
Museo Ning Angeles has since been the venue for numerous art exhibits, music events, art seminars and lecture. The museum also has permanent exhibits commemorating World War II, Mt. Pinatubo and the city’s recovery from the tragedy.
It also has a ‘culinarium’ which highlights the specialties of Kapampangan cuisine. This culinarium is currently under renovation and is set for completion soon.
The KFI president shared on the last weekend of July, the foundation will have a celebration in partnership with the Korean business community in Angeles City. An art exhibit, food bazaar and a fashion show featuring Kapampangan designers are also calendared.
“Every month, we try to stage activities and events that promote our culture and heritage,” Baluyut said.
The KFI officials concluded the interview by inviting the public to visit and support Museo Ning Angeles, which is open from 9am to 5pm, Mondays to Fridays. Admission is free! – 𝑴𝒂𝒄𝒚 𝑵𝒊𝒄𝒐𝒍𝒆 𝑺𝒆𝒓𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒐 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑴𝒂𝒓𝒄 𝑪𝒍𝒂𝒓𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝑻𝒊𝒎𝒃𝒐𝒍
