Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. acknowledged the Filipino-Chinese communityโ€™s significant contributions to the cityโ€™s economic growth and social development during a luncheon held in their honor to celebrate the Chinese New Year on January 29, 2025.

The mayor also expressed gratitude to Pampanga Vice Governor Lilia โ€œNanayโ€ Pineda for initiating the event, reinforcing his administrationโ€™s commitment to inclusive governance and collaboration between the public and private sectors.

โ€œThis is the first time in my tenure as mayor that weโ€™ve held a luncheon for the Chinese New Year,โ€ Lazatin remarked, reflecting on his six years in office.

In his speech, Mayor Lazatin highlighted the administrationโ€™s achievements, including maintaining stable business and property tax rates while expanding the cityโ€™s budget, made possible by the consistent tax payments from local businesses.

The mayor also emphasized ongoing sustainability efforts, such as the installation of solar panels in government offices, barangays, and primary healthcare facilities. Currently, 1,500 streetlights across the city are powered by solar energy.

On public safety, Mayor Lazatin noted the expansion of the cityโ€™s CCTV network, which is now monitored 24/7, and the launch of the Angeleรฑo Alerto 24/7 Mobile App โ€“ POGI (Personal On-Call Guard Interface), aimed at improving emergency response.

Major infrastructure projects are underway, including the conversion of Belen Homesite Elementary School into the cityโ€™s first fully solar-powered public school. The seven-story expansion of Rafael Lazatin Memorial Medical Center (RLMMC) is also in progress, which will enhance healthcare services in the city. Additionally, six new primary healthcare facilities are being built, bringing the total to 15 once completed.

โ€œAs I approach the final five months of my term, I assure you that my dedication to providing quality service will not waver,โ€ Mayor Lazatin pledged to the attendees.

He concluded his speech by extending his best wishes for the Chinese New Year and reiterating Angeles Cityโ€™s commitment to continued growth through collaboration and innovation.
