President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has tapped Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong as Special Adviser and Investigator to the independent commission tasked with probing corruption in the government’s flood control program.
With 38 years of investigative experience in the Philippine National Police (PNP), Mayor Magalong is recognized for leading the Board of Inquiry into the Mamasapano incident and his specialized training in crisis management and hostage negotiation with the FBI. His proven expertise strengthens the commission’s efforts to pursue truth and accountability.
While not a formal member of the commission, Magalong will submit independently gathered documents and evidence to support the probe. This arrangement allows him to contribute to the national anti-corruption effort while continuing his leadership as Mayor of Baguio City.
Magalong said he accepts the role guided by the same values he upholds in local governance— accountability, transparency, and integrity—underscoring his commitment to good governance and safeguarding public resources.
