Angeles City Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. has called on the public to exercise vigilance against illegal activities within the city to ensure safety of residents.
Mayor Lazatin said the city government will not tolerate illegal activities directing all village chiefs in the 33 barangays and the Angeles City Police Office (ACPO) to “be vigilant in monitoring illegal activities” such as illegal gambling sites.
Through Memorandun No. 1302, Series of 2024, Mayor Lazatin has urged the ACPO and barangay captains to “be vigilant (in) monitoring within their respective areas of responsibility.”
“In light of reports of the alleged prevalence of illegal gambling sites, all Barangay Captains and the Angeles City Police Office are hereby directed to maintain vigilant monitoring within their respective areas of responsibility to ensure that no illegal activity is taking place within the city,” said Mayor Lazatin in his directive.
Mayor Lazatin has also urged residents and homeowners associations in the city to also exercise vigilance within the community to prevent illegal activities from happening in their areas.
In a Notice to the Public issued on Wednesday, Mayor Lazatin told “all residents and homeowners associations in Angeles City to exercise vigilant monitoring within their respective communities for any illegal activity that might be taking place.”
Angeles City residents are encouraged to report suspected illegal activity to the City Government of Angeles, either directly to the Office of the Mayor, or through their respective barangays of the ACPO.
Residents can report illegal activities to the following hotlines: 0917-851-9581 or 0998-842-7746.
Meanwhile, Mayor Lazatin has directed the Business Permit and licensing Division, EHS/Sanitation Division, and the City Assessor’s Office, to inspect all business establishments in Angeles City to ensure that no illegal activity is taking place.
The Office of the City Building will also conduct an inspection of all illegal building constructions within Angeles City following the death of a construction worker on duty at an illegal construction site along Mekong St., Barangay Anunas, Angeles City, recently. The illegal building has a foreign national representative.
“Hindi po natin pahihintulutan ang ano mang illegal activities sa Angeles City. Wala pong puwang sa Angeles City ang mga illegal na aktibidad kagaya ng sugal,” the Mayor said.
