Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization (PHilMech) Director Dionisio Alvindia presented the Philippine cacao industry at the International Symposium on Banana and Cacao Disease Management held at Tamagawa University.
The event is part of the Project for the Development of Novel Disease Management Systems for Banana and Cacao (BaCaDM), a technical cooperation initiative supported by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and Japan Science and Technology.

As one of the project’s principal researchers, Alvindia shared insights on the current status, challenges, and future directions of the Philippine cacao industry, highlighting postharvest disease management issues and strategic plans for sustainable growth.
Through this initiative, PHilMech contributes its expertise in postharvest disease management and agricultural mechanization to help ensure stable and sustainable supply chains for both banana and cacao production.
