The Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) has destroyed thousands of illegal firecrackers and pyrotechnic devices confiscated across Central Luzon as authorities intensify efforts to safeguard the public ahead of the New Year celebrations.
The ceremonial destruction was carried out on Monday, December 29, in coordination with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), which ensured the safe and proper disposal of the prohibited items.

Destroyed were assorted illegal firecrackers and pyrotechnics, including boga (improvised cannons), kwitis, Goodbye Philippines**, Lolo thunder, plapla, tuna, Judas’ belt, and giant whistle bombs, with an estimated total value of more than ₱500,000. These were seized during sustained police operations and inspections conducted by PRO3 units throughout the region.
PRO3 Regional Director PBGEN Ponce Rogelio I. Peñones Jr. said the activity underscores the command’s firm commitment to public safety and strict enforcement of firecracker regulations, in line with the PNP Focused Agenda of Acting Chief, PLTGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., particularly on enhanced management of police operations.
“The removal and destruction of these prohibited firecrackers are preventive measures to protect lives, prevent injuries, and avert unnecessary incidents,” Peñones said. “This initiative is fully aligned with our 3Ps—Protect the People, Pursue Peace and Order, and Promote Professionalism. We call on the public to welcome the New Year safely and responsibly, in cooperation with law enforcement and other government agencies.”
