The Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) was recognized as an Outstanding Government Agency for Special Economic Zone Management during the Legacy Awards 2025 held at the Grand Ballroom of Okada Manila in Paraรฑaque City on August 15.
SBMA Chairman and Administrator Eduardo Jose L. Aliรฑo said the award highlights the agencyโs role not only as a driver of economic growth but also as a major source of livelihood for the more than 166,000 workers from Subic Bayโs host and neighboring communities.
โOur mandate has never changedโwe continue to employ the Filipino masses while generating income that the national government can utilize in building a better and brighter Bagong Pilipinas. What has changed is our desire to do more,โ Aliรฑo said in a message.
The award was received on behalf of Aliรฑo by Senior Deputy Administrator for Support Services Atty. Ramon O. Agregado, joined by OIC Deputy Administrator for Corporate Communications Armina Belleza C. Llamas and the SBMA Corporate Communications team.
Agregado said the recognition serves as a reminder for the agency to consistently raise the bar in public service. โWe accept this award as a constant reminder for us to improve our craft in order to provide excellent service and the best quality of life for our stakeholders,โ he said, dedicating the achievement to SBMA employees, Freeport workers, and former leaders of the agency.
The SBMAโs entry for the Legacy Awards was anchored on its 2024 Accomplishment Report, which highlighted โฑ3.07 billion in dividends remitted to the national governmentโranking 7th among the top 10 government-owned and controlled corporations (GOCCs) in terms of remittances. It also recorded โฑ347 million in revenue shares distributed to Subicโs host municipalities and city.
In addition, the report showcased priority infrastructure and development initiatives, including the Subic Bay Residencias socialized housing project, new dormitory facilities, e-vehicle rollout, and ongoing Freeport facelift projects designed to improve the quality of life for stakeholders.
Themed โCelebrating Excellence, Resilience, and Social Responsibility,โ the Legacy Awards 2025 recognized outstanding institutions and leaders whose work contributes to progress and inspires future generations.
