The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) – Tarlac Extension Office conducted an investor education roadshow in Paniqui, Tarlac, as part of its continuing push to strengthen financial literacy and promote responsible investing.

Around 200 students from CIT Colleges of Paniqui Foundation, Inc. participated in the seminar, where they gained practical knowledge on personal finance, smart and sustainable investments, and how to detect and avoid investment scams.

The sessions were led by SEC Tarlac Director Richard R. Lau and his team under the SEC-Communication, Advocacy and Network (SEC-CAN!) initiative, which aims to expand investor education among students and academic institutions.

Lau underscored the importance of equipping the youth with financial literacy skills, emphasizing that understanding personal finance and capital market investments empowers students to make informed decisions that will benefit them long-term.

Orly E. Carlos, Head of the Office of Student Affairs and Services of CIT Colleges of Paniqui, welcomed the initiative, saying the program will help students develop sound financial habits and encourage responsible economic behavior within their communities.

The Paniqui leg marks the start of a year-long series of campus roadshows across Central Luzon. The initiative aims to reach more students and educators, providing practical financial knowledge and strengthening awareness against investment scams.
