Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has developed a mobile application to access its online services as well as advisories and information for the investing public.
SEC Check App provides investor alerts and educational materials against investment scams; latest rules and regulations concerning corporations, partnerships, associations, capital market professionals and other entities supervised by the commission; and other announcements.
SEC Tarlac Extension Office Securities Counsel II Maria Theresa Reotutar emphasized that identifying the corporationβs secondary license is one way to ensure the investment product they offer is legitimate.
βOur investing public can use the SEC Check App to verify if an entity is authorized to solicit investments or engage in lending and financing activities,β Reotutar said.
It can be downloaded for free through Google Play for Android users and App Store for iOS users.
Moreover, SEC TEO Information Officer Mark Catacutan shared the convenience it delivers during a corporationβs registration process with SEC.
βFor those who are planning to create a corporation, they can immediately check on this app if the name they have chosen is available or already taken. In terms of registration fees, the app can also indicate the amount to be paid and its breakdown,β Catacutan said.
Other digitalization initiatives introduced by the commission include the Electronic SEC Universal Registration Environment or eSECURE; the Electronic SEC Education, Analysis, and Research Computing Hub or eSEARCH; and SEC API Marketplace, Electronic Registry Application for Market Participants or eRAMP.
