SM Supermalls has launched a nationwide book donation campaign through its flagship literacy program, SM Book Nook, in celebration of its 40th anniversary. The SM Book Nook Book Donation Drive begins July 7, 2025, across all SM malls in the Philippines, inviting communities to share the joy of reading.
With the theme “Under the Same Sky: Share the Magic of Stories,” the campaign calls on mallgoers, tenants, partners, and families to donate gently used books that will benefit children, families, and readers from all backgrounds.

Part of the collected books will be turned over to the National Library of the Philippines and its affiliates, while others will support the continued rollout of SM Book Nook reading hubs in more SM malls and partner institutions.
“SM Book Nook was created to be more than a space—it’s a movement. With every book donated, we create ripples of knowledge, imagination, and inclusion,” said Shereen T. Sy, SM Cares program pioneer.
To mark its 40th year, SM Supermalls aims to gather 40,000 books, with all malls nationwide serving as official drop-off points. Designated donation boxes will be placed in high-traffic areas inside the malls.
Accepted books include:
- Fiction and non-fiction
- Children’s and young adult titles
- Academic and reference materials
- Magazines and comics in good condition
Beyond donations, the initiative reflects SM Cares’ commitment to promoting inclusive learning, literacy, and community engagement. It also supports the UN Sustainable Development Goals —particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
Visit. Drop Off. Share a Story.
