Students and teachers of Ambuklao Elementary School now have a more reliable source of electricity thanks to a solar power system donated by SN Aboitiz Power – Benguet (SNAP-Benguet). The turnover and switch-on ceremony took place on February 12, 2026.
The donation includes 22 solar panels, an inverter, battery, breakers, and other electrical materials valued at around Php300,000. SNAP-Benguet’s electrical and facilities teams volunteered for the installation and pledged ongoing maintenance to ensure optimal performance. The panels were supplied by SNAP’s affiliate company, SNAP-Magat, which had previously piloted a floating solar project in preparation for a proposed commercial solar facility.
The school requested support through former principal Emerson Hadsan to address frequent power interruptions, especially during the rainy season, which had disrupted classes and school activities for its 70 learners.
During the ceremony, Principal Emilyn Esnara expressed her gratitude, saying, “With this facility donated by SNAP, our teachers will be able to continuously prepare learning activities and conduct classes for the children, even during heavy rains and storms.”
Ambuklao Barangay Chairman Rey Tello noted that the school is the first in Bokod to benefit from SNAP’s solar initiative, which is also expected to reduce electricity expenses for the barangay.
The project reflects SNAP’s ongoing commitment to supporting host communities, promoting renewable energy, and advancing the United Nations’ 2030 Sustainable Development Goals on quality education and clean, affordable energy.
